Class categories

MAC is fun for the whole community. Our classes allow you to develop basic or advanced skills, leave with a finished project, attend lectures and demonstrations, and participate in simple community arts and crafts sessions.

Skill development

These classes focus on learning specific skills and/or the use of various tools. Classes include hands-on experience but do not include the completion of individual projects for participants to take with them. Examples include: router basics, table saw basics.

Project creation

These classes focus on learning specific skills and the use of various tools which are then applied to the completion of an individual project that participants take with them. Examples include: tables and benches, cutting boards.

Instructional lecture

These classes include lectures and demonstrations but do not include hands-on activities.

Community social

These classes focus on simple crafts and other activities that serve as a catalyst for building connections and community. All materials are provided and participants are welcome to come and go as they please.

What prior skills or experiences are required in order to take a class at MAC?

Unless noted in the class description, our classes are open to everyone. No prior skills or experiences are required.

Where is MAC located?

We’re located at 5044 Wilson Ave. S. in the middle of the Lakewood and Seward Park neighborhoods of South Seattle. We are in the same building as Cafe Vita and The Seattle Light Room and directly across the street from Third Place Books.

What parking and transit options are available?

Parking is available along Wilson Ave. S. and behind our building on 51st Ave. S. (Please do not park in the Third Place Books/Chuck’s Hop Shop parking lot.) MAC is short walk from the Wilson Ave. S. & S. Dawson St. stop on the #50 Metro bus line.

If I am unable to attend a class that I registered for, is it possible to get a refund?

We are able to provide refunds for class registrations that are canceled at least 48 hours prior to the start of the class. To request a refund, please send your name and class information to us at admin@mayestarts.org.

Can I bring food and drinks into the workshop?

Sure! We ask that all beverages have lids and that food is minimally messy.
